An engineering and repair workshop in Winnellie, run by the person you talk to at the counter. We design and build electronic products, and because we have the gear to do that, we fix almost anything.
The name stands for It’s Always The Right Time. The business is IATRT Operations Pty Ltd, at 4/143 Coonawarra Rd.
Background
Where the range comes from.
Kavinda Weerachandra started IATRT after a career that kept crossing between IT, marine electronics and remote industrial systems. That’s why one shop covers all three.
Darwin IT and networks, 2014–2020
Senior network engineer and IT manager at PC Mart Darwin: enterprise networks, servers, remote access, phone systems, point-of-sale, conferencing, information displays and security audits for Darwin businesses.
Marine electronics, 2016–2020
Installation and maintenance with Wheelhouse Marine NT: NMEA 2000 networks, VHF and HF radios, satellite comms, AIS, chartplotters and full rewires on Top End vessels.
Remote industrial systems, 2021–2024
Infrastructure, control systems and custom software across Tassal and Huon Aquaculture in Tasmania: feed network reliability, remote comms, cost-reduction work, and a feed-pipe blockage finder that improved location accuracy from about 500 metres to 20 centimetres.
Capital projects and manufacturing
Project lead on larger equipment work: sourcing and negotiation, 3D design, additive and subtractive manufacturing, and one-off equipment built to solve a live operational problem.
In the workshop
The gear that makes the range possible.
- Design and fabrication
PCB design and in-house fabrication, CNC machining, laser cutting and 3D printing for enclosures, mounts and fixtures.
- Test and diagnostics
Bench equipment for component-level fault-finding, thermal, humidity, salt-spray, vibration and submersion testing for gear that has to survive outside.
- The people
A small team. The person who designed the board is the person who diagnoses yours, and the person you talk to on the phone.

Rarely, and never out of sight. Mains wiring goes to a licensed electrician; we arrange it and stay on the job.
Who owns what you build for me?
You do. Design files, source code and documentation are handed over in your name. See IP and exit.
What if it can’t be fixed or isn’t worth it?
We tell you. Diagnosis is free, and a straight answer is part of the service.
Do you work with government and regulated sites?
