Computer Repairs Darwin

Laptops, desktops and Macs fixed at our Winnellie workshop. Free diagnosis, a quote before any work, and a straight answer if it isn’t worth fixing.

We repair down to the circuit board, so a laptop another shop has written off often isn’t dead at all.

What we fix

Laptops, desktops and everything plugged into them.

Won’t turn on

No lights, no fans, or fans that spin with nothing on screen. We trace the power-up chain instead of guessing. It is often a five-dollar part, not a new machine.

Slow, freezing or crashing

Old spinning hard drives, full disks, not enough memory, or a Windows install that has choked on updates. An SSD upgrade is usually the biggest single improvement money can buy.

Screens, keyboards and hinges

Cracked or flickering laptop screens, broken hinges, dead keys and worn touchpads replaced with proper parts.

Charging problems and batteries

Plugged in but not charging, loose USB-C or barrel ports, batteries that last ten minutes. Ports are re-soldered, not glued.

Liquid and storm damage

Coffee, wet-season water, and lightning through the power point. Bring it in switched off. The sooner we see it, the better the odds.

Viruses, pop-ups and scam calls

Malware removed, browsers cleaned up, and a check that nobody still has remote access to your machine after a “Microsoft support” call.

Motherboard repair

Blown charging chips, shorted power rails, failed capacitors. Component-level repair on laptop and desktop boards that swap-only shops send to landfill.

Data recovery and backups

Files from dead drives, failed SSDs and deleted folders, then a backup that actually runs. See data recovery for the full picture.

Macs

MacBook and iMac repairs where parts are available: batteries, screens, keyboards, charging circuits and storage.

Business computers

Office PCs, workstations and small servers, with a loan machine while we work and a written note of what was done for your records.

Questions

Common questions

How much does computer repair cost in Darwin?

Diagnosis is free. Most workshop repairs start from $150 including labour, with parts quoted on top, and you approve the total before we begin. If the repair is not worth doing compared with replacing the machine, we tell you.

Do I need to book?

No. Walk in Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Booking a time is useful if you want to talk through a business job or need us to come to you.

How long does a repair take?

Simple jobs such as SSD upgrades, virus removal and screen swaps with parts on hand are often same-day or next-day. Board-level repairs and ordered parts take longer, and we tell you which you are looking at before you leave the counter.

My laptop got wet. What should I do?

Turn it off, don’t plug it in, and bring it in. Every attempt to power it on pushes current through a wet board and turns a cheap fix into an expensive one.

Can you recover my files if the computer is dead?

Usually, yes. If the drive survived, the data is still there even when the machine is not. We copy it to a new drive or a new computer for you.

Do you fix Macs?

Yes, within the limits of parts availability: batteries, screens, keyboards, charging circuits and storage on MacBooks and iMacs.

Do you come to me?

Yes. Home and office callouts across Darwin and Palmerston are quoted per job. For most repairs the workshop is faster and cheaper.

Where we work
