From a single circuit to a full off-grid build.

Batteries and charging

Lithium (LiFePO4) and AGM banks sized for how you travel, charged from the car through a DC-DC charger and from the roof through solar. Redarc, Victron, CTEK and Enerdrive-class gear, with a shunt monitor so you can see what’s going on.

Solar

Fixed panels, portable blankets and the regulator to match, planned around shade and the size of your battery rather than what was on special.

Inverters and 240V appliances

Pure sine-wave inverters for coffee machines, induction cooktops, CPAP machines and tools, cabled and fused for the current they actually draw. Inverter-charger combos with shore-power changeover.

Fridges, lights, pumps and outlets

12V fridge circuits (Dometic, Engel, Bushman), LED lighting, water pumps, diesel heater controls, fans, USB-C and 12V outlets, each on its own fuse with a label.

Tow vehicle and trailer wiring

7-pin and 12-pin plugs, Anderson charge lines, electric brake controllers (Redarc Tow-Pro, Tekonsha), breakaway systems and trailer lights, tested with the van hooked up.

Reversing cameras and comms

Wired and wireless reversing cameras, multi-camera setups, UHF, and Starlink or phone-signal boosters with a proper power feed.

Fault-finding

Nothing works since the trip, the charger works on the bench but not in the van, a melted Anderson plug, a BMS that won’t talk to the inverter. We measure voltage drop and current draw and find it.

Repairs, not just replacements

Chargers, inverters and control boards repaired at the component level through our electronics workshop when a new one isn’t justified.

Pre-trip checks and upgrades

A once-over before a long trip, or an upgrade path from an old AGM and a small panel to lithium, DC-DC and better solar without starting again.

Full builds

Camper trailers, slide-ons, van conversions and 4WD touring rigs planned on paper first: wiring diagram, parts list, then install and commissioning. You get the diagram and a fuse map at the end.

  1. Tell us how you travel

    Fridge size, days between powered sites, what you cook with, what you tow. That decides the battery and the charging, not the catalogue.

  2. Written plan and quote

    For builds, a wiring diagram and a parts list before any cable is cut. For faults, a free diagnosis and a quote for the repair.

  3. Install, test, hand over

    Correct cable sizes, proper crimps, everything fused and labelled, tested under load, and documented so the next person can find their way around.

Common questions

Lithium or AGM?

Lithium if you run a fridge and free-camp for days: lighter, faster charging, longer life. AGM still suits a van that mostly lives on powered sites. We’ll say which, based on how you travel.

Why does my battery go flat even with solar?

Usually shade, an undersized panel, a regulator that doesn’t match the battery, or a cable run that drops too much voltage. We measure each stage and fix the one that’s actually the problem.

Can you do the tow vehicle as well as the van?

Yes. Anderson charge lines, brake controllers and trailer plugs on the car are part of the same job. See auto electrical.

We’re travelling through Darwin. Can you look at it this week?

Usually. Call first and tell us what’s happening; small faults can often be seen the same day.

How big a van can you fit?

The bay out the front takes rigs up to 12 m long and 5 m wide, hitched or not, so most motorhomes fit. Book a time first and wait for our confirmation before you drive over; it tells you where to pull up on the Mataram St side. Anything over 12 m, we come to you.

Do you install 240V shore power?

We fit and commission the 12V and electronics side, including shore-power inverter-chargers. Fixed 240V wiring is done by a licensed electrician, which we arrange when needed.

Will you give me a wiring diagram?

Yes, on every build. It’s the thing the next technician, or you at 10pm in a campground, will thank us for.

Darwin, Palmerston and the rural area.

Vans and motorhomes under 12 m come to Winnellie by booking; you get a confirmation and where to pull up before you set off. Bigger rigs, or if you’d rather not move it, we come to you across Darwin, Palmerston, Howard Springs and Humpty Doo, storage yards and caravan parks included.

Before you come in

Book a time before you bring the van, and send photos of the battery box and the charger labels. Model numbers let us check parts before you arrive.

Finding us: the end unit of the 143 Coonawarra Rd complex on the Mataram St corner, same block as Top End Car Rentals and Campervan Hire. Come around to the Mataram St side and park on the hardstand out the front. Under 12 m only, and only once your booking is confirmed.
