Industrial Automation & Control Systems Darwin

PLC, SCADA, HMI, control panel design and build, instrumentation, and integration for Darwin industrial sites — built to be maintainable on-site after handover.

From single-machine PLC work through to multi-line SCADA and remote-site control, we design, build, and support industrial automation and control systems across Darwin, Palmerston, the East Arm/Berrimah industrial corridor, Howard Springs, Humpty Doo, and out to Katherine.

Repair-first, documentation-first, and operations-aware — the goal is a system your in-house team can keep running long after the install, not a black box that needs us back every quarter.

What we do

PLC, SCADA, HMI, panels, instrumentation, integration.

PLC Programming & Control Logic

  • PLC programming, modification, and migration — Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Omron, Mitsubishi, Beckhoff, and open-spec controllers
  • Greenfield logic design and brownfield rework where existing logic is undocumented
  • Safety logic review and integration with safety relays / safety PLCs
  • Version control, structured tag naming, and handover-ready documentation

SCADA, HMI & Operator Interfaces

  • SCADA design, deployment, and integration — Ignition, AVEVA / Wonderware, FactoryTalk, and open-source stacks where they fit
  • HMI design with operators, not just for them — workflows that reduce error rates rather than just look modern
  • Historian, trending, alarming, and event reporting
  • Remote and mobile views with proper auth and audit logging

Control Panel Design & Build

  • Industrial control panels — design, build, wire, label, test, and document
  • Motor control centres, distribution boards, and process control cabinets
  • IP-rated builds for Top End conditions — humidity, dust, vibration, salt-air-adjacent sites
  • Refurbishment and rewiring of legacy panels with serviceability designed in

Instrumentation & Field Devices

  • Sensor and instrument selection, install, calibration, and loop checks
  • Flow, level, pressure, temperature, vibration, and analyser integration
  • 4-20 mA, HART, Modbus, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, and MQTT integration
  • Wireless and LoRa-based field instrumentation where cabling isn't viable

Industrial Networks & OT/IT Integration

  • Industrial network design — segmented, monitored, and recoverable
  • OT/IT bridging with proper boundary controls instead of flat networks
  • Remote access for vendors and integrators with auditable VPN/jump-host paths
  • Cyber-aware controls aligned with frameworks like CIRMP and AESCSF where required

Repair, Reverse-Engineering & Lifecycle Support

  • Controller and drive repair at component level — not just board swaps
  • Reverse-engineering of legacy panels and undocumented logic for safe modification
  • Spares strategy, obsolescence planning, and replacement-board engineering
  • Tiered managed support for live operational systems with real response SLAs

Industries we work with

Top End sites that have to keep running.

Our automation and control work covers process plants, water and wastewater, marine and harbour-side operations, food and beverage, materials handling, mining-adjacent sites, defence-aligned sites, and the small-to-medium industrial workshops that make up the Berrimah / East Arm / Winnellie / Yarrawonga corridor.

Where the work touches regulated systems we apply the same governance discipline we use elsewhere — risk treatment, change control, access management, and audit logging — referenced against frameworks like CIRMP and AESCSF rather than ad-hoc.

Why IATRT

Operations-aware engineering, not portfolio work.

We aren't a generic systems integrator looking for the biggest greenfield project on offer. The bulk of our work is on live operational systems where the cost of a bad change is real and the team taking over after handover is the people we worked with day one.

That changes how we scope, build, and document. We'd rather refit and document a working system than rip-and-replace for billable hours, and we'd rather hand over something a sharp local sparkie or in-house tech can keep running than something only we can touch.

See how we deliver, IP & exit terms, and how support works for the operational detail.

Coverage

Workshop in Winnellie, on-site across the NT.

Our workshop is in Winnellie, central to the Darwin industrial corridor. We service Darwin metro, Palmerston, Berrimah, East Arm, Howard Springs, Humpty Doo, and rural NT, with scheduled coverage to Katherine and beyond. Workshop drop-off is the fastest path for repair work on removed assemblies; on-site work is scoped and quoted per job.

Consultations

Free consultation by phone or at our Winnellie workshop. Site visits are quoted separately. The initial consultation is used to confirm scope, expected effort, and the most appropriate next step before major work begins.
